In Glacier National park is the back county campground of Granite park- at this campsite a group of mule deer bucks were seeking salt. The setting was ideal and the deer were rather cooperative. This painting resulted as I combined a series of photographs of the animals and area as the sun was going down.

Steve Spencer, an Idaho native, is a self-taught wildlife, landscape and portrait artist. His paintings are the fruit of rigorous contact with the source, the hours he spends in front of an easel are preceded by weeks in the mountains and canyons of the west.
